The Boys Love (BL) genre has been a prominent fixture in Asia like a Force 8 typhoon for many years. Japan, South Korea, Thailand, and Taiwan have produced many popular web series, which have captured the hearts of not just gay men but also thousands of women. But how about BL’s from Hong Kong? HKLGFF has put together a panel which explores this phenomenon, talking to the makers of three local BL web series – “I Am a Fool for You,” “He He & He” and “The Love That Dare Not Speak its Name.” Join us to find out why the BL series phenomenon is so popular. And what pleasure does it provide for the audience? We will also discuss how to make your own BL if you are so inclined; and what can a locally produced BL series give you, which other Asian productions can’t.
