Synopsis
In a depleted city, a nameless man impersonates the men he has sex with and brings a new persona to his next hook-up. Sex is an act that dissolves and rebuilds the boundary of one’s body. Through pretending to be others he searches for his true self. In this queer time and place where identities are scattered and civilisation has collapsed, he listens and finds the strength to live on.
Queerpanorama is director Jun Li’s latest work centered on queer identity, following Tracey and Drifting, and draws inspiration from his own experiences. The film has been selected for this year’s Berlin International Film Festival. It features a bold and unconventional lead performance by rising Hong Kong actor Jayden Cheung.
