Inspired by the director’s conversations with his own late grandmother and his chosen career path as an artist, this family drama centres around Russell, a fledgling drag queen who retreats to the countryside home of his grandmother, Margaret. However, Margaret has her own challenge to deal with as she fears that she will be forced to move to a nursing home due to her declining health. The solution is for Russell to move in and keep the nursing home at bay. Russell, as his drag alter ego Fishy Falters, casts a spell over the town at the local college bar, but he also has to deal with family and personal issues while Margaret fights her own battles due to her failing mind.
