FOREWORD

2011: What a brilliant year for Hong Kong's gay community! We've had our first Pink Season, which includes all kinds of events for the LGBT community. Two of the biggest events, Mr. Gay Hong Kong and Floatilla have just passed, and for fans of the Hong Kong Lesbian & Gay Film Festival (HKLGFF), the wait is nearly over: the festival kicks off on 18 November this year.

In the past, we have had many requests from our audiences that we show more Asian content. We have heard your voices, and this year will be screening more Asian content than ever.

This year marks a new chapter for Asian queers. The opening film for the boys is Lost in Paradise, Vietnam's first ever gay film. As a girl's opening film, we will be screening Yes or No, Thailand's first lesbian film. We will also be showing Malaysia's first queer film, In the Bottle. I just hope that more Hong Kong film producers begin producing more good quality gay films for us to show in future festivals!

As usual it's been a great experience working on the HKLGFF, not only putting all the films together, but organizing the events and connecting with our community. I hope to see all you at the upcoming
festival!

Joe Lam
HKLGFF Director
